Long bio
For features and interviews
Prerna Singh is a Delhi-born, London-based DJ, producer and architectural designer. She works where techno meets Indian classical music: the ragas of the sitar and the squelch of the TD-3 acid synth, structured as contemporary techno. Her sound tastes like tamarind and dark chocolate. It might take you aback, but you will keep coming back to it.
Her love of music began with a Sony MP3 Walkman in sixth grade and her school orchestra band, Dhwani. Trained in Indian classical singing as a teenager and now deepening her practice on sitar, this tradition is not borrowed; it is intrinsic to everything she makes. At the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi she discovered psytrance and techno, and during Covid her mother gave her a DDJ-400. Self-taught on Ableton, she played the scenes of Delhi and Jaipur before moving to London for an MA at the Royal College of Art and an MSc at Imperial College London.
She has released on Adhesive Records and Dynamic Berlin and played Corsica Studios, E1, Egg London, Fire, Unit 58 and Venue MOT, with her first international gig in Berlin in July 2026. Her music has been played on BBC Radio 1, she was featured on NTS Radio, and she hosts Why Can't Sitar Be Sexy? on Love Will Save The Day FM. Techno is her act of resistance as a queer Dalit woman, building herself from zero in London with no connections and no blueprint.
